Captain America: Civil War Run-Up

So the greatly anticipated Captain America: Civil War movie is nearly upon us and the time has come for you to choose sides.

To say I have been eagerly waiting for this film to come out since it was announced, is an understatement. What with being a fan of the comic and to be fair, they have hyped this film up massively with all the media stuff that it has become very difficult to contain my inner Marvel geek excitement.

I have enjoyed choosing sides and have already engaged in a little Civil War rivalry with my Little Vamp Sash – She has chosen to side with Team Cap.  I myself, have sided with the charismatic Tony Stark on Team Iron Man. So here is a little about the up and coming film.

Captain America or Steve Rogers, is leading his new Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. However, after yet another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, our heroes are called into question. Mounting political pressure for a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team certainly does not not sit well with the some of the Avengers. Their leader Cap, believes they should be free to to defend humanity without government interference.

Tony Stark on the other hand, takes the side of the government, believing that there needs to be accountability for their actions, his included. This splitters the groups into two factions, making Cap the enemy of the government and pits friends against each other in a battle to decide the fate of the Marvel world.

I’m interested to see how this epic slugfest will unfold on-screen, particularly intrigued with how newer characters will fare and if they’ll stay true to their comic roots such as Black Panther played by Chadwick Boseman. Though it’s fair to say there’s only one character’s involvement we are all REALLY curious to find out about – No spoilers but those who have seen the newest trailer will know who I’m talking about! 😉

The marketing behind the hype of this film has been awesome. If you have been following any of the social-media behind this film, you would of seen the various posters for Team Cap and Team Iron Man. I especially loved the one that Tony vandalised over the top of with Team Iron Man.  But this was only a taste of what was to come.

Both Cap (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) took to the stage at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2016 to present the new Civil War trailer. Whilst staying true to their characters, they engaged in a Civil thumb War – Respective team battle masks included.

Then there’s the hilarious battle of the last red and blue sprinkles doughnut that Tony smugly ate in front of Cap. The video posted to People Magazine’s Twitter account revealed, the real star of the spoof was Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) as she was actually the background performer watching it all transpire.

Not to mention Tony’s little visit to the Eiffel Tower where the national monument revealed allegiance to Team Iron Man. The tower ended up lit up in the design of the Iron Man suit after going though a few different designs.”Team Cap… How do you come back from that?!” Robert said after seeing the big reveal. “You are toast!”

Let’s hope one of the biggest films of the year will live up to all the hype and expectation.

With only 6 days to go until its general release on the 30th of April there is just one thing left to say – Whose side are you on?

Some photos of our vs battle and a review will be up soon.
